Outdoor pets should be kept indoors for 7-10 days after surgery.
Dogs should be kept on a leash when taken outside to use the bathroom.
Encourage your pet to “take it easy” for 7-10 days; no rough play.
E-collar must be worn for 7-10 days; do not allow your pet to lick or chew at the surgical site.
Check your pet’s incision daily for any changes, such as redness, swelling, bleeding, or discharge.
Your pet may be reluctant to eat the night after anesthesia; this is normal. Offer about half the normal amount of food. If your pet vomits, remove the food and water bowl for 4 hours, then try again with smaller amounts. If your pet continues to vomit, call us at the clinic.
Keep your pet dry for 7-10 days; no baths, swimming, etc.
Your pet’s sutures are internal (unless otherwise stated) and will dissolve over time.
If your pet had an IV catheter, the bandage may be removed in 1-2 hours.
Spaying and neutering may lower your pet’s metabolism; they may need less food to prevent obesity
